The TYPE-XI Spiber project, created in collaboration with Spiber Inc., combines technology and design to shape a more sustainable future. The garments are crafted from Brewed Protein™ fibres, made through Spiber’s proprietary fermentation process using plant-based materials, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional fabrics. When blended with partially recycled polyester threads that shrink at a different rate when heat is applied, the fabric is pleated using the ‘Steam Stretch’ technique, creating distinctive, sculptural shapes.
