SATIN WASH

These garments, made from a glossy acetate satin material, are treated with a wash after being fully covered by pigment printing. In contrast to the smooth luster of the material itself, the surface of the cloth that has been pigment printed is scraped down, accumulating fine scratches and irregularities that bring out an uneven matte sheen. This look, coupled with the flowing drape of the material, creates a texture reminiscent of ceramic artist Shoji Kamoda’s “Silver Glaze.” The items are characterised by their loose silhouette and large range of motion when worn, a result of their unique garment structure consisting of a single part.
