New HaaT Store Opening on Friday, 21 November, 2025.

Located on Aneyakoji Street, where traditional architecture continues to thrive, the new store will occupy a machiya townhouse built approximately 150 years ago during the early Meiji period.
The space, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, resonates with both history and the future. An expansive historical space exceeding 100 square meters is gracefully adorned with aluminium, elegantly tinted in a delicate shade of cherry blossom. Embracing the wisdom and spirit of daily life passed down through generations, while seamlessly blending HaaT’s contemporary materials and techniques, this new location serves as a stage for sharing innovative craftsmanship with the world.

“A cherry-blossom-hued space emerges quietly in the historic streetscape of Kyoto.

In this space, where traditional machiya architecture meets softly tinted aluminium in shades of sakura, a gentle, diffused light — reminiscent of cherry blossoms — fills the air.

Walls of aluminium shimmer as if reflecting the future, while timeworn wood carries the weight of history — creating a striking contrast.

Here, the warmth of craftsmanship merges with the industrial; tradition blends seamlessly with innovation. This fusion gives life to a space where the spirit of Makiko Minagawa’s creations breathes quietly.
