On Thursday, 12 June, BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE will open its first flagship store in the United States. Located in the SoHo neighbourhood of New York City, it will be BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE’s first standalone store in the West outside of Asia, and will serve as an important base symbolising the brand’s further global expansion.

The store’s interior design is inspired by the traditional Japanese irori sunken hearth. The irori is a place where family and friends gather around a central fire to relax while chatting. This concept reflects the hope that people will gather around BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE products and expand the circle of communication at the SoHo location.

Furthermore, special visuals and a video have also been released. Using an original style that likens the LUCENT tote bag to a red heart, it delivers a heartfelt message to the city of New York.
