GRIT
CONCEPT
“GRIT” sunglasses born from the aggregation of tiny grains.
Its graceful curves and organic form feature an uneven surface with a quiet depth, clinging to the face as if in an embrace, becoming one with the body. This sculptural expression has been made possible through cutting-edge 3D printing technology.
The frame’s material—grains derived from plant-based oil—transforms from white to deep charcoal grey the moment it is shaped. Its unique character emerges from the untouched, matte texture created during the printing process, evoking the presence of something found in nature.
The softness of fabric wrapping around the body, the grainy touch of sand against the skin—these tactile sensations create a natural bond between the material and the body.
TECHNICAL
DETAIL 1 Strong yet supple frame material
The frame is made from PA11 (Polyamide 11), a high-performance, plant-derived resin.
This material is derived from castor oil extracted from castor beans, and has gained attention as a bio-based polymer made from renewable resources.
In addition to excellent impact, heat, and chemical resistance, it also offers outstanding flexibility with a combination of durability and suppleness for long-lasting comfort.
DETAIL 2 Minimal and comfortable hinge structure
The high-performance spring hinges are made by REDTENBACHER.
Designed to integrate seamlessly with the frame, they feature a minimal look that makes them almost seem invisible.
The spring mechanism ensures smooth opening and closing, providing a gentle fit that adapts to the contours of the face.
Furthermore, the “locking-zero” structure maintains a wobble-free, fluid motion for opening and closing over time, ensuring long-term stability and comfort.
DETAIL 3 Polarised lens structure that controls reflected light
The lenses are made with CR-39®, a plastic material offering excellent optical functionality.
With a nearly flat 2-curve design, they create a mirror-like reflection when worn, giving a sharp impression.
Equipped with polarisation functionality, the lenses effectively suppress glare and excessive brightness from surfaces such as roads and water.
Although the lenses are dark-tinted, they do not make the view overly dim. By suppressing only excess reflected light, they maintain brightness while enhancing contrast, delivering a clearer and more comfortable field of vision. In addition, the anti-reflective (AR) coating on the inner surface prevents reflections from the back of the lens, further improving visual clarity and comfort.
